CRP in WoW Festival, Dhaka

CRP participated in the Women of the World (WoW) festival hosted by British Council on 6th April at the Bangla Academy. Led by a renowned actress Kazi Nawshaba Ahmed, a total of 12 persons with disabilities staged a puppet show featuring a true story of a brave girl Ratna. Ratna an ex patient of CRP and a victim to child marriage, domestic violence due to dowry demand of the in-laws, the oppression resulted in her disability. After completing treatment Ratna received vocational training on tailoring and then CRP provided her a sewing machine to generate income from home. Ratna has also become a member of CRP's Women's wheelchair Basketball team and participated in several international tournaments. Her story was mainly portrayed into a puppet show to inspire people. Nawshaba with her team “Together we can” trained the puppeteers for a month and finally staged the play at the auditorium of Bangla Academy. Being a huge success at the WoW festival, CRP is planning to stage the show in other places of the capital.
