EIHRPD Research: Inclusion of SCI Rehabilitation in Health System in Bangladesh

The Research Dissemination event on “Inclusion of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Rehabilitation in Health System in Bangladesh” took place on 28 September 2025. It was organised by CRP under the initiative of the project titled “Equitable & Inclusive Health and Rehabilitation for Persons with Disability (EIHRPD)” in partnership with CBM Global Disability Inclusion. The event aimed to share findings and recommendations from the recent study on SCI rehabilitation, identify service gaps, and initiate policy dialogue for integrating SCI rehabilitation into the national health system. CRP founder Valerie Taylor delivered the opening remarks, while Punam D Costa, a lecturer at the Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (BHPI) from the research team, presented the study findings and recommendations. The event was attended by Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Director (Health) of Dhaka Division, as the chief guest. Special guests included Dr. Syed Zakir Hossain, Line Director NCDC, and Mohammed Zahidur Rahman, Country Director of CBM Global Bangladesh. More than 50 people attended, including 13 high officials from government health institutes, researchers, NGO representatives, SCI experts, journalists, rehabilitation professionals, association members, OPD representatives, SCI beneficiaries, and others. Together, they explored pathways for more inclusive and sustainable health services in Bangladesh.
