Sweety is a 20 year old woman from Dhaka. Her husband works in a garments factory. She faced a terrible accident when traveling by an auto-rickshaw, where her scarf was suddenly was caught in its wheel and tightened around her neck, pulling her out of the rickshaw. She was six months pregnant then and fortunately her baby was safe. She was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the doctors found that her neck was broken. They refused to operate on her neck during her pregnancy. 3 months after her accident she came to CRP and her neck was operated upon. Meanwhile, she gave birth to a baby girl, who is now safe and healthy. It is very unfortunate that Sweety cannot hold her baby as she is fully paralysed below the neck. She is receiving medical care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy as well as counseling. Now, she can move her left arm slightly. She was confined to her bed previously. Now, following therapy sessions, she can sit in her wheelchair. CRP and its generous donors are providing her treatment expenses. Sweety and her family are grateful and thankful to CRP.
